We had an amazing and informative tour with Velile who was able to accommodate us at short notice and very understanding and flexible with our itinerary. He was also very friendly but still remained professional. I recommend this tour to be the first thing one does when visiting East London

The Tour that unlocked the town for us

We had a dream of going to South Africa for a Safari but before doing so, I wanted to compete in an half Ironman Triathlon in the country. Our dates called for the race to be in East London. It is best described as the Detroit of SA as it has a lot of manufacturing. The city did not have a great tourist tradition and in fact the Hotel we stayed at told us their was nothing to do in this town for tourist, Undeterred we found Imonti Tours. We had heard about village tours where your could go see a shanty town and learn about apartheid from the people that were most impacted by it. The owner Velile was our guide and this was one of the best tours anywhere we have ever been on. He took us to a traditional pharmacy by many of the neighborhoods that had been impacted by the movement of the towns because of Apartheid and the history of both Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu both graduates of the college in this town. This was a moving tour and had you open you eyes to what people do when given very little to make life as good as they possibly can. I highly recommend you invest the time and money to meet Velile and share in his vast knowledge of his home town.More

Thank you Velile for showing us the different lifestyles of East London. A full day with a small group from our cruise ship, Nautica, driving from the harbour to Heroes' Park (lots of history here) and then on to Nahoon Beach and Nature Reserve. The latter spot had a beautiful boardwalk and museum and the scenery was very picturesque. Saw some local craft and then drove to Duncan Village where we experienced the feel of a community focussed on assisting elders and the disadvantaged. Very well organised, transport excellent and a great insight into the local community. Thank you Velile for looking after us so well.

The arrived on a cruise ship and had a half day at east London. On a very short notice, Velile was able to accommodate our request and treated us to a comprehensive trip including a local village, a township and a drive through the town of East London.
What a difference when you are taken around by a guide who is sensitive to your interests and knows local life in and out.
Best experience ever!

We had a fantastic time with Siseko. Siseko , our guide, welcomed us on a Sunday afternoon Mthatha and took to out guest house for the night, the day after we showed us the museum dedicated to Mandela in the city and then his old village. He knows the life of Nelson Mandela very well and he explained us all the stages in a very enjoyable way, never boring. Siseko has been more than tourist guide he has been a friend. He helped us a lot to find an alternative accommodation for the second night because we were not comfortable in the pre -booked hotel , he has worked very hard to made us happy and he did a fantastic job. We spend with him 3 days , we wish him a bright future and we strongly recommend to use Imonti tour and to ask for Siseko.
