GREATER EAST LONDON HISTORICAL TOUR
This is a special tour designed for guests visiting East London. This tour is also suitable for guests arriving on the cruise ship. This tour is designed for the guests to understand the city of East London, it’s people, living conditions and different lifestyles.
Pick up from your accommodation or at Port of East London for those arriving on the cruise ship and take a drive through East London City Centre with a stop at Lock Street Jail Complex,(first Women’s Jail in Southern Africa), Fort Hare University, View of the Port, City Hall. Next stop will be North End where we will visit traditional herbal shop to learn about traditional medicine. From North End we will drive to Duncan Village, one of the Oldest suburb of East London and we will stop at Sister Aiden, a community project that runs a soup kitchen feeding more than 1000 poor people. Next stop will be Zamani Day Care Centre, a township school for about 300 kids. From Duncan Village we will drive to Mdantsane Township, second largest township in South. We will drive and learn about the life in the township with a stop at the Shebeen for a beer for those who like beer and meet with locals. From Mdantsane we will drive back to east London and stop at Nahoon Nature reserve with a walk on the deck and on the beach. From Nahoon we will drive back to the Port of East London or to your accommodation with a stop at Hero’s Park and the German Settler Memorial before we drive back to the harbor or your hotel. This is a flexible tour that covers the whole of East London with it’s townships and suburbs.
